Território Sagrado

Rio Negro: símbolo de vitalidade do Amazonas e abrigo de mitos ancestrais.
Estética, função, narrativas ancestrais atadas à trama, calor do feito à mão... e aura.

A Mãe Terra é eixo, sentido, direção.

Sacred Territory

Aesthetics, function, ancestral narratives tied to the plot, heat of the handmade ... and aura. The vases, fruit baskets and lamps are result from the fusion of the design with the crafts - fruits of the Original Brazil Amazon Project - take in essence the beliefs and spirituality of the artisans. They carry with themselves the permission of the spirits of the forest to harvest of the vegetal fiber and use them to give shape to the creations also inspired in their sacred habitat. In each object lies the ancestry and the mystical bonds of the “Fish People”. Ancestors who, according to oral reports of the Tukano speaking and Tariana tribes, left the Lake of Milk - the maternal womb of all peoples - and in the " snake canoe " followed the course of the Amazonas and Negro rivers until they anchored in the region of new humanity.

The cities of São Gabriel da Cachoeira and Barcelos - amazon towns that shelters indigenous and riverside communities of Original Brazil Project -  are in this sacred axis. Nothing more than step the ground to feel the energy that emanates from them and the strength from the nature. Heaven, earth and water holds a kind of supreme power and nourish the life around. They define precise cycles for a universe aligned to a time and reason to exist. Connections to the sacred are everywhere. They give meaning to the norms, behaviors and rites of the artisan groups rooted in territories permeated with mysteries. Fertile places, where the seed of our collaborative work springs into the heart of this particular world.

The piaçava fiber, on inspiration that exalts the cult of nature, and from the hand palms of Barcelos artisans, the Buriti Collection is born. Imposing palm tree from Amazon, the buriti tree extols the legends and the multiple blessings in its codename, “Tree of Life". The Tapuia natives - who also border the Upper Negro River region – they credit its origin to a gift from Tupã, a sacred entity symbolized by thunder. The weather-resistant tribal narrative explains that at the top of the canopy, the central leaves of emerald green hue, makes up a crown that adorns and protects the forest. They claim reverence and respect for the majestic size and generosity of its fruits. Curls hanging from the sturdy trunk, feeding the rich creation in details in the meticulous tessitura that goes through generations. How not to be sacred?

In immersion of this artisanal work, in socializing with unique people, in exchange of experiences and in subtlety of the infinite stories told by the artisans, I broaden my perception and understanding in spite of spirituality and convictions. Symbolisms intertwined with small gestures adding grandiose meanings. I broaden the look at the rites that involves the hand made and learn to respect them. Mother Earth is axis, sense, direction. It is in her and for her, that things orbit in the incessant pursuit of balance. The soil, the air, the rivers and the forests keeps the deities that guide the daily journey. And whatever is born, grows and flourishes in this world of waters is gift and consent. A gift from another dimension.
